We just bought a new build home in Arizona. It has an Apple home kit pre-installed, but we have no apple products. Will it still be good to use. We move in in April. I’m trying to plan things out while we wait for it to complete.

Hey Reed, I saw some weeks ago your other video, that you now go with Google Assistent and Homeassistent. I am on the same journey to change from Alexa to hey google. Did you all ready managed to implement the same like shown in 0:57? @smarthomesolver
The single biggest missing piece of home automaiton is person detection. Solving that problem will advance home automation out of science fiction into an actual useable reality. I’ve played with the AirTags… which can report the location of the nearest BTLE receiver that they can connect to. So all the technology needed is there… it just needs to be integrated into a home automation solution. [I consider having to have an AirTag on your person is more realistic than having to carry an iPhone everywhere… at least while in your home.]
Using a smartwatch to sync with BT, would be more accurate, since I will not have to carry my phone every time I change the room? I’m thinking about replicate this automation using smartwatch BT instead my phone.
Can you make a video about things going wrong? Like an accessory not responding, or re-adding it resulting in needing to redo all automations associated to that device? Think that could be really insightful

It’s all fun when it works, but when it doesn’t, and it regularly doesn’t, your basically cannot turn on your light properly until you’ve engineered it again, this shit is the same as full self driving, it will never fully happen cause there is always a software engineer involved
